Historical Trauma and Unresolved Grief Circle

The Historical Trauma and Unresolved Grief (HTUG) group addresses and explores the cumulative effects of current and historical trauma, grief, and loss within the collective American Indian experience. The group will run for 12 weeks and includes 4 major components: confronting historical trauma and embracing our history understanding trauma releasing our pain transcending the trauma Tools used include psychoeducation on the traumatic aspects of American Indian history and how it affects American Indians. Small group processing with opportunity for catharsis sharing and group identification. Use of audio-visual material and a wiping of the tears group ceremony at the end of the 12 weeks.  HTUG is open to community members who are 18 years of age and older. Participating in the HTUG circle is a 12-week commitment and each session builds on the previous session’s work. Due to the nature of the support circle’s work, please plan on attending each week and completing the 12-week cycle. We are limited to 20 spots.
