New Clinic Facility

Currently, the Oyate Health Center is located in the Sioux San Hospital building in west Rapid City. Originally constructed in 1938 as a facility for treating Native patients with tuberculosis, the brick-and-stone building has been updated and renovated over the years, but the structure presents some challenges in providing a high standard of care to patients.

New Facility on the Horizon

In the spring of 2020, construction will begin on a new facility for the Oyate Health Center. While construction will be managed by the Indian Health Service, the OHC leadership team and medical staff are working diligently to ensure the new clinic building has everything needed to provide optimal care to our communities. Construction of the project is currently estimated to be finished in three years. When complete, the opening of the new Oyate Health Center will signify a profound change in the way healthcare is delivered to tribal citizens in Rapid City.

The transition to the new building will begin as early as December of 2022.
