New Covid-19 Guidelines For Return To Work

RAPID CITY –On July 22, 2020 the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) changed their recommendations regarding REPEAT testing for COVID-19.  Previously they required a negative test in order to safely return to work.  The new standard of care no longer requires a repeat test and is based on the improvement of symptoms.
If a person has had a positive COVID test they may return to work if:
~ At least 10 days have passed since the initial positive viral test, and
~ At least 24 hours have passed without fever, off medications, and
~ symptoms have improved (cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, etc.)
A repeat test will NOT be necessary.
A letter of explanation will be provided to patients to take to their employers.

If you are feeling ill, and are concerned that you may have contracted COVID-19, you may come to the Southwest clinic at the Oyate Health Center seven days per week between 7 AM and 11 PM.  We will continue to do the initial testing and treatment for COVID-19 as we always have.  It is only the protocol for repeat testing that has changed.
We still strongly encourage you to wear a mask in public or at work, follow social distancing guidelines, and perform frequent hand hygiene.

If you have questions you may call the Oyate COVID-19 information line at 605-787-8904.
