Youth Conference Enters 2nd Year

RAPID CITY –The Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board’s 2nd Annual HERO Expo is set to take place on November 16, 2023. The conference brings together local Native American youth and inspirational speakers from across Indian Country for a one-day conference at the Rushmore Holiday Inn in Rapid City, SD.

The theme of this year’s EXPO is Woihable yuha man (to walk with a vision).

Youth in attendance will receive encouragement from inspirational speakers, including entrepreneurs Kansas Middletent and Seneca Skunk, South Dakota School of Mines starting point guard and founder of the Warrior Mindset training system Alejandro Rama, Grant Weston, and others.

Under the direction of the Health Board’s Connecting With Our Youth Program, this event will encourage future generations to pursue new avenues of wellness, self-help, personal growth, and paths to success.

The Connecting With Our Youth Program is an anti-suicide initiative that helps youth connect with culturally relevant activities and resources.

Hosted by comedian Mylo Smith, the event will also feature Wanbli Wausila Wi Eagle, Leal Middletent, Trivia Afraid of Lightning-Craddock, Collins Provost, and the Wakinyan Luta Singers.
